I am originally from Istanbul, Turkey. Upon receiving a Fulbright scholarship, I came to the U.S. and completed my M.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language at the University of Minneosta.I continued with my education at the same institution and completed a Ph.D. Second Languages and Cultures Education. I worked as a faculty developer at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA and as an assessment coordinator at the Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition (CARLA) of the University of Minnesota. Also, I worked as an ESL instructor in many colleges and universities in New Jersey, and I am very glad to be at BMCC since I have a great passion to teach beginning Freshman and ESL students.

My research interests are teacher education, faculty development, assessment in second language, technology and second language teaching.
